DIRECTIONS
CHOOSE A TOOL
Choose one of the development tools to explore. Consider which tools interest you, which ones you think you may use in the future, or which tool you would like to explore more.
If you are on a budget, you can make use of a free software or utilize a free-trial.
SELECT THE RAFTS COMPONENTS
On the next page, you will choose the role, audience, format, topic, and software (RAFTS) for your project.
Role: your position, such as instructional designer or graphic designer.
Audience: the learner you will create your project for.
Format: the type of deliverable you will create. For example, a video, presentation, or image.
Topic: the content that the deliverable will be about.
Software: the development tool you will be trying out.
WRITE THE PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE
While you will not be completing every step of the instructional design process for this project, you will need to create a performance objective to stay on task.
For example,
The small business owner will be able to describe 3 time-management techniques, providing four details for each, with at least 75% accuracy.
CREATE YOUR SAMPLE DELIVERABLE
Use the chosen development tool to create your deliverable based on the selected RAFTS components.
RAFTS
Choose one option from each section: Role, Audience, Format, Topic, Software.
For example, you could act as an instructional designer who is creating a presentation on time management for small business owners using Google Slides.
Make sure that the options you choose work together.
